《如何教授英語語法》:The aim of this book is to provide teachers with a fresh approachto thinking about English grammar. Each chapter focuses on aproblematic area, for example 'Articles', 'Conditionals', and'Direct and indirect speech'. First the basic grammatical folan isdescribed, and then the meaning distinctions conveyed by particular forms. The final section of each chapter shows how meaning can be shaped by context and communicative purpose. Thebook includes exercises, teaching ideas, and a glossary.
George Yule has been an English language teacher in Britain,Canada, Jamaica, and Saudi Arabia, and has taught Applied Linguistics at the universities of Edinburgh, Hawaii, Louisiana State,and Minnesota.

序言

近年來隨著國內和國際形勢的發展,我國對外語人才的需求日益增加,有志於學習外語的學生和社會群體的人數急劇上升,從而使我國外語教學事業蓬勃發展。在這種形勢下,外語師資培訓和自身建設的重要性與日俱增。在這兩方面,當務之急是要了解當今國外外語教學的發展情況,要借鑑國外的最新經驗,結合我國的具體情況,大力提高外語師資的水平,使我們的外語教學事業更上一層樓。
有鑒於此,上海外語教育出版社為廣大外語教師提供了一套由國外弓l進的外語教學法叢書。這套叢書所涉及的方面廣、種類多,包括外語教學技巧和原則、語法教學、語音教學、閱讀教學、寫作教學、教學管理、測試、教材選擇、第一語言和第二語言習得、兒童英語教學等等。其中絕大多數專著是上世紀九十年代和本世紀所出版。它們反映了當今國外外語教學法研究及相關學科的現狀。
這套叢書的最大共同特點,也是與傳統教學法類專著的最大不同點在於特彆強調理論與實踐相結合;更是以實踐為主,再以理論去分析評述各種實踐活動的優缺點。我們所熟悉的傳統教學法類專著,一般都是強調教學原則、教學理論,把各種方法的來龍去脈講得很詳盡;然而如何到課堂上去進行具體教學活動,如何在教學活動中去體現教學原則卻不多見。這套叢書則幾乎全部是從實踐活動著手,以說明對理論和原則的套用。
